We’re John and Donna Washington, owners of Washington Farms! We left our careers and began farming in 1993. After renting 6 acres on Mars Hill Road in Oconee County, we started growing strawberries. Year 2000 was a busy year for us. We sold our farm on Mars Hill Road and bought land on Hog Mountain Road and moved the farm to its current location. Also in 2000, we rented land to grow 7.5 acres of strawberries in Loganville, Georgia.
We have five children who grew up learning to help on the farm, doing everything from planting to picking! Because they were homeschooled in their early years, they could help out on the farm! Now they are grown, but most of them still help on the farm when they can! They certainly make time to come and eat the berries!!
In the fall of 1996 we began growing pumpkins and offering hayrides at the farm on Mars Hill Road. With the purchase our land on Hog Mountain Road, we were able to plant blueberries and blackberries for families to pick! We were also able to expand our Fall Farm Actives to include a corn maze, a jumping pillow, a cow train, and lots more! One of our greatest joys on the farm includes watching families and friends laughing and smiling, enjoying spending their time together having fun on the farm and making lasting memories!
We are a member of the MAiZE Family!
